Abstract Submission Categories
Clinical Research
Original data addressing a scientific or clinical question relevant to medical dermatology.
Four Clinical Research abstracts will be selected for oral presentation at the 2027 MDS Annual Meeting.
- Abstracts must include data at the time of submission. Submissions without data will not be considered.
- Research with a complete dataset at the time of submission will receive priority over interim analyses.
- Valid interim analyses of prospective clinical trials may be considered when the analysis was planned in the original protocol and is statistically appropriate.
- Use these mandatory sections: Background/Objective; Methods; Results; Conclusions.
- Previously presented clinical trial data may be considered only when the submission includes significant new information.
Clinical Cases
An educational, diagnostically challenging, or clinically relevant case of interest to medical dermatologists.
Cases should lend themselves to working through the diagnostic evaluation, differential diagnosis, and management with faculty and attendees.
Submissions must provide enough information for reviewers to understand the clinical presentation, diagnostic reasoning, and management of the case.
One or two Clinical Case submissions may be selected for an interactive format, such as an NEJM Morning Report–style discussion.
- Use these mandatory sections: Introduction/Objective; Case Presentation; Discussion/Teaching Points.
- Clinical photographs, pathology images, radiographic images, and other relevant visuals are strongly encouraged when they add educational value.
- All patient information must be appropriately de-identified. Authors are responsible for obtaining any patient consent required by their institution for presentation of case information or clinical images.
