Mayo Clinic Department of Dermatology is now accepting applicants for a Complex Medical Dermatology Fellowship year that emphasizes the development of advanced clinical skills in approach to complex medical dermatology.
This one-year, non-ACGME accredited fellowship provides exceptional training in the diagnosis and management of complex dermatologic diseases under the supervision of experienced dermatologists. During this year, the participant will work in multiple subspeciality clinics, including hidradenitis suppurativa, erythromelalgia, connective tissue disorders, immunobullous disorder, lymphoma, and hospital dermatology. The clinical experience during this fellowship provides sufficient exposure for the participant to manage patients with a full spectrum of severe dermatoses.
The participant will also have 40% protected research time for scientific development and research aligned with their interests. It is expected that the participant will conduct research and complete publications in their area of interest.
The Department of Dermatology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, provides a full range of dermatologic care for both common and rare skin conditions, and offers multiple subspeciality clinics. The department has 35 board-certified physicians in three areas of dermatology: medical, surgical, and laboratory. Their expertise includes caring for outpatients with complex medical conditions such as hidradenitis suppurativa, chronic wounds, autoimmune blistering diseases, rheumatologic/dermatologic diseases, severe eczema, severe psoriasis, lymphoma, cutaneous diseases with systemic manifestations, using systemic immunosuppressants and biologics to treat complex medical dermatologic conditions, and evaluating and managing skin disorders in critically ill hospitalized patients.
The ideal participant is someone planning or just beginning a career in academic medical dermatology. Applicants must have completed a dermatology residency by the fellowship start date and be board eligible or certified to practice in the United States. We are looking for appropriate applicants with an estimated start date of August 1, 2024.
